Intransitive verb describing a situation where something causes trouble, prevents an action, or makes it difficult to proceed. Often used in negative potential forms (差し支えなければ) to politely ask if something is acceptable.
明日の会議に出席しても差し支えありませんか。
Would it be all right if I attend tomorrow's meeting?
急用ができて、約束の時間に差し支えた。
