Broad everyday use for physical sensations, emotions, impressions, and sensing signs or atmosphere. Often takes を, as in 痛みを感じる or 危険を感じる, but can also appear without a direct object.
I felt a strong pain in my leg.

Used when something affects the heart or makes an impression. In modern Japanese this often appears in expressions such as 感じるものがある or 感じるところがある; for a clear, direct 'be deeply moved,' 感動する is often more straightforward.
There was something deeply moving about his words.
That film has something moving about it no matter how many times I watch it.

Dated and rare in this medical sense. Modern Japanese normally uses 病気にかかる, 風邪をひく, or 感染する instead.
In older usage, 病に感じる means to fall ill.

As soon as I entered the classroom, I sensed something unusual in the air.
