Attached to a length of time to say that something happens after that much time has passed, often for the first time in that period: 三年ぶりに, 一週間ぶりの, etc.

• 友ゆう人じんに十じゅう年ねんぶりに会あった。

  I met my friend for the first time in ten years.

• 三みっ日かぶりに晴はれた。

  It was sunny for the first time in three days.

suffix

-sized; of a certain size or amount

Used in size or amount expressions, especially fixed-feeling forms such as 大ぶり and 小ぶり. This use is less freely productive than the time-gap sense.

• 小こぶりのリンゴを二ふたつ買かった。

  I bought two smallish apples.

• 大おおぶりの茶ちゃ碗わんにご飯はんをよそった。

  I served rice in a large bowl.
