Formal or written use for drawing a conclusion from evidence, circumstances, wording, or context. Common patterns include 〜から推すと and 〜から推して.

• 状じょう況きょうから推おすと、犯はん人にんはまだ近ちかくにいる可か能のう性せいが高たかい。

  Judging from the situation, the culprit is probably still nearby.

• 彼かれの口くちぶりから推おして、計けい画かくはすでに決きまっているらしい。

  From the way he spoke, it seems the plan has already been decided.

Rare and old-fashioned as an independent modern verb in this sense. In ordinary contemporary Japanese, 考え抜く, 熟考する, or 推し量る-like expressions are more likely depending on the nuance.

• 古ふるい用よう法ほうでは、「推おす」が「深ふかく考かんがえる」という意い味みで使つかわれることがある。

  In older usage, 推す can be used to mean 'to think deeply'.
