Usage patterns

• 〈物もの〉が見み違ちがえるほど〈形けい容よう詞し〉になるto change so much that it becomes unrecognizable

  部屋へやが見み違ちがえるほどきれいになった。

  The room became so clean it was unrecognizable.

• 見み違ちがえるように〈動どう詞し〉to do something so dramatically that one seems like a different person

  彼かれは見み違ちがえるように痩やせた。

  He lost so much weight that he looked like a different person.

• 〈人ひと〉を〈人ひと〉と見み違ちがえるto mistake one person for another

  彼かれを彼かれのお兄にいさんと見み違ちがえた。

  I mistook him for his older brother.
