言げん明めい

A clear, explicit statement of a position, fact, intention, or denial. As 言明する, it often takes a quoted clause with と and is more formal than simply 言う.

• 政せい府ふはその疑ぎ惑わくを否ひ定ていすると言げん明めいした。

  The government stated that it denied the allegations.

• 社しゃ長ちょうは会かい見けんで、工こう場じょうを閉へい鎖さしないと言げん明めいした。

  At the press conference, the company president declared that the factory would not be closed.

• その発はつ言げんは明めい確かくな言げん明めいとは言いえない。

  That remark cannot be called a clear statement.
