ものがあるHas a notable quality or impact
ものがある says that someone or something has a noticeable quality, tendency, or impact that warrants a particular assessment. It sounds more measured than a direct emotional reaction and is often based on something the speaker has observed or experienced.
Recognizing a noticeable quality
The expression does not merely say that something is good, bad, beautiful, or strange. It points to a quality within the person, work, explanation, or situation that leaves a distinct impression. A common frame is には followed by the evaluative description.

Analyze胸を打つ describes the impact that the ending has on the viewer.
Both favorable and unfavorable assessments
ものがある can support praise or criticism. What matters is that the wording before it naturally describes a degree, quality, tendency, or effect—not simply an arbitrary action.

A quality within something, not a verdict on what it amounts to
ものがある identifies a notable quality or impact within what is being evaluated. By contrast, というものだ gives a broader judgment about what a situation amounts to or what should be considered natural, fair, or appropriate.
