open-list proportional representation system
A Japanese electoral system where voters cast a party vote and a candidate preference vote; seats are allocated to parties proportionally, and within each party candidates are elected in order of their individual votes. Contrasts with 拘束名簿式比例代表制 (closed-list PR).
