Used for emotions, conversation, or atmosphere becoming animated. Often appears as 心が弾む or 話が弾む.

• 旅りょ行こうの話はなしで会かい話わが弾はずんだ。

  The conversation became lively with talk of the trip.

• 彼かの女じょは期き待たいに胸むねを弾はずませている。

  She is thrilled with anticipation.

pay handsomely; splurge; part eagerly with money

Transitive use: willingly spend a large amount of money. Common with 金を弾む or チップを弾む.

• 彼かれはいい仕し事ごとには金かねを弾はずむ。

  He pays handsomely for good work.

• 上じょう機き嫌げんでチップを弾はずんだ。

  He cheerfully splurged on the tip.

Almost exclusively in the fixed phrase 息が弾む. Describes labored breathing after exertion or excitement.
