返かえる

Intransitive: something returns to its source, owner, former place, or former state. For a person going home, 帰る is the usual spelling and word.

• 貸かした本ほんがやっと返かえってきた。

  The book I lent out finally came back.

• 話はなし合あいの後あと、彼かれの表ひょう情じょうに笑え顔がおが返かえった。

  After the discussion, a smile returned to his face.

Intransitive physical use for something turning over, folding back, or having an edge turned up. Modern Japanese often uses compounds such as 裏返る or めくれ返る for clearer specific meanings.

• 彼かれの言いい訳わけにみんなあきれ返かえった。

  Everyone was utterly appalled by his excuse.
