  I was so taken with this design that I bought it right away.

Suffix-like use attached to the -masu stem of a verb, indicating being so absorbed in an action that one loses oneself. Common in literary or expressive contexts.

• 彼かの女じょの歌うた声ごえに聴きき惚ほれて、時じ間かんを忘わすれた。

  I was entranced by her singing and lost track of time.

• 美うつくしい景色けしきに見み惚ほれて、立たち止どまった。

  I stood still, captivated by the beautiful scenery.
